Silver Queen Cocktail Fritters

Lord, this is Southern hospitality at it’s finest!

What could be more welcome than to drop by

for a short visit, a bourbon and branch, a series

of scandalous tales about kith and kin, and find

yourself confronting a warm plate of these

absolutely ambrosial hors d’oeuvres.

2 cups of freshly grated corn off the cob

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 cup self-rising flour

2 eggs, beaten

1/4 cup stone-ground corn meal

1 teaspoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup chopped green onion

1 teaspoon of fresh basil, minced

1 tablespoon of red pepper sauce

Mix corn with buttermilk and eggs and blend in dry

ingredients. Drop a tablespoon at the time in 375

degree peanut oil. Remove when golden brown.
