Jamaica Tequila Punch

This is an excellent punch or signature beverage for a

brunch or luncheon. It is both tart and lightly sweet. Made

from the dried flowers of the tropical hibiscus, packaged

jamaica (hah-my-ca) can be found in any latin american

food market. The proportion of tequila is perfect for

mid-day and the drink may be enhanced with the addition

of a six ounce bottle of sparkling water, if desired.

7 cups of cold water

1 ½ cups of sugar

1 cup of jamaica flowers

½ teaspoon of cinnamon, ground

1 half cup of freshly squeezed lime juice

1 cup of 100% agave tequila

Bring the water to a boil in a large, stainless steel

saucepan and add sugar to dissolve. Stir in the dried

jamaica flowers and remove from the heat. Let stand

for at least an hour and then strain. Add cinnamon,

lime juice, and tequila. Pour over ice in tall glasses

and garnish with lime wedges.
